Let’s start with a hard truth: there is no secret step-by-step plan you can follow to become successful. There is no one size fits all solution. Joseph Mavericks of Enterpeneur’s Handbook recently found out when he interviewed 75 successful people to discover the secret to success.
“Of course there are patterns to be recognized,” he writes. “For example, an overwhelming majority are early risers, reading a lot and writing down their thoughts. I definitely believe that there are some habits that have been proven to lead to greater success in most cases. But you cannot say that there is one clear way to achieve success.”
From the beginning of his project, Mavericks has been trying to figure out what these people had in common. Whether that was multiple factors or a simple little thing. “I could always find patterns and trends, but never a general truth,” he explains.
The simple conclusion
Until at some point the penny dropped. “It was so obvious I couldn’t believe it took me 75 interviews to realize it,” he says. What do all successful people have in common? They dared to take the first step and persevere after they got over their initial enthusiasm.
“It sounds too easy, too obvious,” says Mavericks. “But if it did, everyone would be working on their dreams.” How many times have you had a good idea and then didn’t follow through? We all run into the same obstacles at a time like this. The difference between overachievers and everyone else is that overachievers keep pushing.
