Autumn afternoon

She turned up the radio a couple of notches and sang along. She loved Ravi’s songs. The fine puns and lyrics that were almost impossible to keep up with. “I need you now or let you go. then you’ll be with me yes yes.. Then you’ll be with me yes yes. I have to let you go or have you now” She smiled a little for herself.

She was on her way to Oslo. I was going to meet a friend and chat a little bit. It was early afternoon and the slightly grey light showed that winter was soon here. Some cracked colored leaves were still left on a couple of trees, but mostly now the foliage covered the ground like a blanket.
Subconsciously, she felt her heart rate rise. She approached the roadworks area where she knew he was frequenting occasionally. Oh, my God, something so stupid. But without really wanting to, she slackened on the accelerator pedal and her eyes searched among the cars parked more or less randomly around the construction site along the road. Very likely that she would spot his particular car there, she thought ironically. She had driven past at least a hundred times before with no luck. She didn’t see anything familiar now either. Glanced in the mirror and saw that a Volvo of the big type, four times four, the C90 or whatever it was called, was right on top of her bumper. She hated people licking bumpers. Annoyed, she let her speed drop another couple of kilometres as she drove through ringnestunellen.

One place to look. She just had to look at the cars that were at the makeshift roundabout as well. Used to be a lot of cars there. She smiled slightly at herself. What would it make? Now, if she were to spot his car, what would she do? Drive on and pretend nothing or abruptly stop and get the Volvo in the ass?
Suddenly, time stands still. Isn’t it? Oh, my God, it’s his car and… The blush rises up in the cheeks. She chooses to drive on, but decides to turn around and take an extra look. It was so fast, she didn’t have time to see properly. Maybe it was something she imagined. She drives off at the first exit, turns around and comes back again. Decide to drive into the area and take a closer look.

Sure, it’s him. She automatically looks in the mirror and checks if the lipstick and makeup are in place. Terrified, she sees that she is frantic red…
